Have you ever felt like you're working hard, but the lack of results is killing your motivation? Me too, until I understood the psychological effects of Celebrating Daily Wins.
When you get to a certain level of proficiency in your craft, your standards for what constitutes "success" rises, and daily motivation can wane.
When I began training for a new season, I saw my daily efforts as "baseline expectations", instead of choices to be proud of. My self talk was negative, my motivation was low, and going after an audacious goal was a grind instead of a challenge.
When the bar for “winning” is set too high, “wins” become fewer and further apart, and there isn't enough positive feedback to consistently feel growth.
We update our self-concept every night when we sleep, so the most consistent stories we tell about ourselves influence our self-image.
When I started implementing my Daily Wins Process, I began to identify as someone who consistently took steps in the right direction. As my confidence grew, so did my capacity to motivate myself and my excitement about the work I was doing.
